Trotwood teen charged with murder of man shot multiple times

A 19-year-old from Trotwood charged with murder is accused of shooting a Trotwood man multiple times, killing him, last month.

Armone Darnell Kinney, 19, was arraigned Monday in Montgomery County Municipal Court Western Division for two counts each of murder and felonious assault.

The gunshot victim was identified as 22-year-old Eric Evans Johnson by Montgomery County Coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger.

“Armone was in possession of a 9mm handgun. Armone used the handgun to shoot and kill Eric,” a Trotwood Police Department incident report stated.

Trotwood police and medics were dispatched around 12:45 a.m. Nov. 26 to the 100 block of West Sunrise Avenue, where officers saw a man later identified as Johnson lying partially in the driveway and grass area. Officers noticed he suffered multiple gunshot wounds, including to the right shin, right pinky finger and jaw, according to the report.

Medics took Johnson to Miami Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead of his injuries just before 1:40 a.m., the report read.

Kinney is held on $500,000 bail in the Montgomery County Jail.
